VINCI Building Completes South Arrivals Reconfiguration at Birmingham Airport

The VINCI Building team at Birmingham Airport has successfully handed over the reconfigured South UK Border Force and Arrivals Hall, increasing the number of control points and the capacity of the airport, ready for the busy summer peak.

This project, a part of the ongoing capital investment at the airport, provides an increase from five to eight primary control points, that are operated by UK Border Force and will future proof the introduction of E-gates. These additional desks will ensure that UK Border Force has a larger immigration hall to process arriving passengers into BHX.

VINCI Building are currently delivering multiple live schemes at Birmingham Airport, which has an extensive on-going capital plan that is responsible for asset replacement, ensuring capacity growth and environmental improvements.

“VINCI Building are delighted to support Birmingham Airport with the successful completion of the new South Arrivals Boarder Force facility which has successfully handed over ready for operational use. The scheme is the latest at the airport to demonstrate the strength of the project team continuing to grow relationships based on positive behaviours and collaboration.” – Henry Parker, VINCI Project Manager

As a part of the works delivered, VINCI Building have supported various social values events including a unique career event at BAL, in collaboration with Smithswood Academy and Daylesford Academy. Facilitated by the Solihull Careers and Enterprise Company, the aim was to inspire students, boost their confidence, and improve attendance by immersing them in workplace environments and offering support.

Solihull College, who kindly supported the event with an interactive stall, provided students with detailed information about their construction courses, including T-Levels. During construction, the college have secured three placements on the project.

BAL generously supported the event by offering their training facility (the former public viewing gallery), providing students with a unique view across the airport runways.
